A question I am getting often these days…, “Do we need to be blogging?”.   The short answer… “YES!”

If you are not familiar with blogging, it’s not hard to get introduced to it.  Google the word “blog” followed by your favorite subject, and you’ll find one!

“Blog” is a contraction of the term “Weblog”, it began as more of a posting of updates or news, but has become one of the most popular ways to interact on the Internet.  Blogs are great for keeping up on the latest and greatest in the world and can also be beneficial for link building and driving traffic to your website. Regularly posting accurate and interesting subjects to your blog is the key to having a healthy blog life.  Once you create and generate readers you are bound to succeed.

If you’re new to the whole blogging craze and just aren’t quite ready for your own blog, you can start by posting on other people’s blogs. Find a blog that’s related to your business in some way, but that’s not a competitor, and start by replying and commenting on its posts.

Remember the most challenging part of a blog is posting creative and accurate information to capture an audience.  If you know who your audience is, what they like and what their interests are, then you are set.  If you are unsure you may want to do a little research or test market your idea’s before you start the posting process.  At Sun Valley Marketing, we have offered this option to our clients since day one!  We know the value of relationship marketing… we built this business on it!  Organizations who have yet to join the “blog world” are missing out on a great opportunity to connect with their customers, congregation, and visitors.

It just makes sense to open the door to interact with those interested in your organization or products.  Who would not want that?  Blogging is a great social medium. However, businesses and organizations that simply regurgitate press releases, articles, and other worthless junk are likely never going to get the bigger picture. If you really want to reap the benefits from blogging, look at it from a community point of view and I promise that great sustaining relationships will follow.
